Category Communication Design
Eva Horská is a graduate of the Textile Design and All-Sculpture Studios (VŠUP, Prague) and the Graphic Design Studio (EINA, Barcelona).
She works with a wide range of intermedia, in most cases resulting in varied forms of book, commercial, and free illustration. For her distinctive and recognizable style, she is a sought-after author of children's book illustrations along with interior elements and visual applications in space.
Jakub Horský graduated from the Paper and Book Studio (FaVU, Brno) and Graphic and Multimedia Design (UHK, Hradec Králové).
He stands as a graphic designer straddling the worlds of traditional graphics techniques and contemporary digital editors. His work, whether free or commercial, constantly seeks to bridge these two worlds and to find creative starting points and technological combinations within them. As part of his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Art and Design at the J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, he is focusing on applying letterpress printing techniques and traditional methods of printing from above in the context of the contemporary visual scene.
Since 2014, they have been working together under the Upupæpop label as a visual studio active in the spheres of graphic and book design, illustration, typography, and original design work.
They have collaborated with large festivals & cultural events and done small realizations for the sheer happiness. They have created several graphic designs for books, catalogs, or music covers for authors and publishers across genres. Both are specialist teachers at the Department of Art Culture and Textile Design at the Faculty of Education, University of Hradec Králové.
