Past years

Accessibility is important in all areas of human life and affects us all without exception. We are interested in monitoring developments and changes in society in terms of whether the environment we live in actually offers opportunities and comfort to diverse groups. That is why in 2023 we were guided by the theme Design for All.

The year when we started to focus on universal design in public space, i.e. the design of products, services or entire environments that can convey a quality experience to the diverse groups that move in the given environment. The idea of this theme emerged from the very different status and perceptions across European countries. While in some places it has been in the background for years, elsewhere it is part of the strategic development of countries.

In the same way that design in its process breaks away from the initial idea - it evolves, collaboration is the opposite of isolation. It is communication, support, diversity, creativity, growth, innovation, functionality. And it is collaboration that has become a reflection of hope during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing us to persevere in the face of adversity to continue to bring the best of the design world to life.

Change in established standards. The desire to awaken a bit of a rebellious spirit, to break free from the clutches of the rules, and to achieve freedom of thought and progress. Even so, REVOLUTION may occur, which last year pervaded the entire program of the largest design show in Moravia.

The fourth year of the festival showed visitors that design is a game and we really played with design in several parts of Zlín. Whether at exhibitions at the Zlín castle, workshops “Vepřo knedlo design” or on the stage of the Zlín theater at a conference in which, for example, Mehdi Saeedi, Ondřej Krátký or Lucie Koldová lectured in 2018.

Contemporary design, work of companies, creation of designers and trends from the Czech Republic and abroad. All this is united by the topic of LIMITATIONS. Lex Pott, Studio SWINE or Jakub Mařík spoke at the third year of the conference. We organized an excursion to TON, creative workshops and film screenings. We certainly did not limit ourselves.

Also in 2016, we filled the streets with design. The theme of the second year was MONEY and it clinked everywhere. At exhibitions in the Svit area of Baťa and in the main square, at the workshops “Vepřo Knedlo Design” and at a conference at which Otto Fabri and Michal Vlček or Petr Pištělák spoke that time.

First exhibitions, first achievements, first experiences. Zlín has come to life for the first time by design at main square thanks to the KOMA modules. The exhibition at the chateau was taken care of by the creative group OKOLO headed by Adam Štěch. Maxim Velčovský and Veronika Ruppert attended the conference. The premiere was a success.
