An online exhibition of almost 40 international projects of young designers, studios and studios on the topic of COOPERATION will run throughout the month.

A series of short educational videos from the workshop of the OKOLO team on the topic of fundamental collaborations on the history and present of design, led by Adam Štěch.

The opening of the magnificent Zlin Design Week will take place on Friday, May 7, 2021. Visitors can look forward to the Designshop shopping fever throughout the week. Visitors will have access to a stand with design pieces from Czech, Slovak, and local designers. The stand will be located in the Zlín park, together with 4 modules, photo walls, and a chill-out corner. An exhibition of the best works from the Best in Design competition will take place in the G18 gallery.

As part of this year’s Conference, you can look forward to videos and podcasts with our speakers. The videos will feature David Parrish, a British expert on the creative industries, Vasjen Katro, a graphic and UI / UX designer, and Portuguese businesswoman Joana Lacerda. The podcasts will feature Dana Prekopová, owner of IOKO optics, a duo of product designers Vrtiška and Žák or automotive and industrial designer Marek Weidlich. During the gala evening, the results of Best in Design will be announced together with the introduction of Zlin Design Week and the international competition Best in Design. Visitors can also look forward to interviews with Eva Gartnerová, Josef Kocourek, Jitka Smolíková, Stanislav Martinec – director of KOMA modular, Martin Růžička – founder of the competition and an expert jury. The whole gala evening will be moderated by Jan Cina.

The Fashion show will start in a pre-recorded form at 8 pm. At the show, the audience will be able to enjoy work from 9 designers using a light installation and a night clock. The designers you can look forward to are: Žofia Soldánová, Adéla Mitrengová, Barbara Shevchuk, and others. The fashion show will take place in the old building of the Svit complex.

The Young Esthete band’s stream will start at 9 pm. During his relatively short time in the music world, Matej Herceg was a frontman for the well-known Apparat and did several club nights. This time he will shine at Zlin Design Week. Visitors will be able to enjoy this music performance via YouTube stream.

On Saturday, May 8, the ceremonial opening of the ZDW Exhibition will take place, where the curator of the exhibition, Romana Veselá, will explain how the exhibition was created. This exhibition will be available online for a month on the web via the Kunstmatrix platform. Visitors will be able to view the exhibited works of individual designers at any time.

Sunday’s concert of the band Hello Marcel, which will be streamed live on YouTube, will be available to all fans of music that is full of jokes and awesome beats. The duo of musicians from Svitavy has given a number of concerts and everyone will fall in love with their lyrics with the themes of food and motherly love. 

At 5 pm, the so-called Well-done Cooperation will take place, which will publicly reveal the project spaces of all exhibitors of ZDW Exhibitions and members of Design KANTÝNA. Through ZOOM, it will be possible to look into the Design KANTÝNA space and thus identify with the process of creating designers’ products.

A workshop that will help you with your career and personal growth. The Design Thinking theme focuses on creative thinking, finding new solutions, and innovation. For example, you can look forward to empathic conversations, creative thinking, prototyping, or the basic rules of brainstorming. 

Storytelling not only about how the product photo studio was established, how much the duo cried at night, or how many buckets of SD cards were used. A live inspiring story. At the same time, you will learn how to style products correctly, a little about post-production, and a lot of other tricks. The workshop is open to 20-30 people, you can buy tickets at GoOut.

You can look forward to Vojta Frajt from the 2media agency and Tereza Dolinová from non – profit design platform Czechdesign. 

Dné is Ondřej Holý, who has already released 4 EPs and played over 50 concerts. Among other things, Ondřej composed music for the HBO documentary film Nothing like Before. So you can look forward to nothing else but quality!

How to customize a poster from “boring” to “great”? And how does it all relate to graphics? You will learn this and much more with David Svoboda at this workshop focusing on the graphic program Canva. The workshop is open to 20-30 people, you can buy tickets at GoOut.

The Border Design will return this year in the form of an online conference. The six speakers will tell you their observations on the topics of cooperation or sustainability. We will welcome you at least virtually in Zlín and through the Zoom platform. You will be able to ask speakers additional questions during the conference, or compete for DNH T-shirts. And who exactly can you look forward to on May 13th? Our invitation was accepted, for example, by Eva Kuttichová, a product & interaction designer who also collaborated with companies such as Vodafone and Toptal. From the field of marketing, we will welcome Tomáš Pohl, director of the Brno strategic agency JustMighty that worked on projects for brands such as Netbox, Eset, or Antalis.

Dance group All Style Unit focuses mainly on street dance styles, but also elements of stage dance and contemporary. He has been working in Zlín and Vsetín for 15 years, where together they create and develop art that they do not forget to pass on from generation to generation. This year, as part of the cooperation between ASU and ZDW, an original performance will be created, which will make the festival’s online program special.

TELETEXT is a project that was created in 2017 in Zlín and over time moved to Prague. The duo of Martin and Nicolas, performing under the pseudonyms A +++ and Atch, focuses on techno and trance.
