The next Zlin Design Week is fast approaching and we try to think not only about everything (thanks to all the to-do lists and production boards!), but also about everyone. So far, unfortunately, we don’t have the whole program 100% barrier-free, but we are gradually working on individual solutions and we promise to be 100% accessible next year! Because we want you to enjoy the festival as much as possible, without restrictions and complications.
So what parts of the programme can you go to this year with a disability?
Opening ZDW
This year’s Opening will be in the Municipal Theatre Zlín. There is ready a barrier-free access for visitors in wheelchairs. They can enjoy the entire Opening with a concert by the Police Symphony Orchestra, the announcement of the results of the international competition Best in Design, and a dance performance by the All Style Unit. Actor Jan Cina will guide you through the entire programme. If you have any questions about the accessibility of the evening, you can contact Lenka from our team, who will be happy to discuss the possibilities with you: lenka.drabesova@zlindesignweek.com
Conference
The ZDW Conference will take place in the Zlín Congress Centre. You can get inspiration from the theme of “Design that helps” and meet interesting personalities from various fields. Wheelchair access is also available here and sign language interpretation will be provided for visitors with hearing impairments – you can request this via the form when purchasing tickets.
Exhibitions
Check out the new design talents who will shape the future of the industry and who were among the finalists of this year’s Best in Design international competition at the G18 Gallery. The next exhibition, 100 Years of Zlín Design, is divided into two parts: the first one can be found at the 14/15 Bata Institute and the second one in the 61st building of the Svit complex. Both of these exhibitions also have wheelchair access.
Accompanying programme
Discussions in the Design Cantina at Zlín Castle and the design shop are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible, for workshops we could come up with individual solutions, which Eliška will try to arrange for you. Just contact her at eliska.janakova@zlindesignweek.com
