Workshop Together by Design: social design for positive impact × Canan Akoglu & Marek Kuźmiński

Location: Zlin Castle (Soudní 1, Zlin)
Date: 9 May 2026
Time: 3 PM – 5 PM
Language: EN
Admission: 350 CZK

This hands-on workshop invites participants to explore how design can actively shape connection, inclusion, and community. Starting from personal reflections on belonging, participants are guided to see design not just as the creation of objects, but as a powerful tool for building relationships and shared experiences. The workshop begins with empathy exercises, encouraging participants to step into the shoes of different people and explore their perspectives and experiences. These exercises provide a safe space to imagine the lives, needs, and challenges of diverse individuals, helping participants uncover factors that create connection or distance between people.

Building on these insights, participants work in teams to imagine “bridges”– concepts, interventions, or experiences designed to bring people closer together in public space. The workshop culminates in the presentation of these ideas, highlighting how design can generate meaningful social impact and foster more inclusive communities.

How do I get to the castle?

Public transport: The nearest stop is Zlín, autobusové nádraží. If you are travelling by trolleybus, the closest stops are U zámku and náměstí Práce.
By car: The nearest option is the paid Gahurova car park. Parking in Zlín can generally be difficult, so if possible, we recommend coming on foot instead.

If you have any specific access needs and or are unsure whether the programme is suitable for you, please do not hesitate to contact us by email at anna.svobodova@zlindesignweek.com or by phone or SMS at +420 733 144 711.
