Does design need love? And love design?

We believe that it does. We often encounter an approach that is primarily focused on profit and the quantity of production, while user needs recede into the background. This exhibition is based on the belief that design can be a tool of care and concern. It has the ability to create moments of closeness – to oneself and to others.

The exhibition All you need is design is based on the basic human need for love and raises the question of how much contemporary design can reflect it. You will see student and advanced projects that have set out to create a space for this “intimate dialogue”. They present design that is caring, considerate and beneficial to everyday life.

The exhibition is interactive and we would be happy if you would experience it with us. And if you leave today with the thought “I could also be in a situation where I feel discriminated against for my needs,” then believe that “All you need is design.”

Curators: Natálie Vencovská, Gabriela Hrdinová

What will it be like there?

The exhibition is spread across three rooms, each focusing on a slightly different theme. The first is called Courage, the second Closeness, and the third Stigma. The third room features design works that explore sexuality and the experience of it.

You will find the exhibition on the first floor of the castle. Walk through the courtyard and follow the arrows to the stairs leading to the first floor. Then turn right and you cannot miss it.

Public transport: If you are travelling by trolleybus, the closest stops are U zámku and náměstí PráceZlín, autobusové nádraží is also nearby.
By car: There are only a limited number of parking spaces available at the castle, but they can be used if needed by prior arrangement. Parking in Zlín can generally be difficult, so if possible, we recommend coming on foot instead.

If you have any specific access needs and or are unsure whether the programme is suitable for you, please do not hesitate to contact us by email at anna.svobodova@zlindesignweek.com or by phone or SMS at +420 733 144 711.

Our goal is to make the festival accessible to as many people as possible. We will be very happy to advise you and help find alternative options.
