The Zlin Design Week 2025 festival was officially launched last evening in front of the Zlín Castle with the vernissage of the main exhibition DIALOG (Dialogue) and a ceremonial opening of its eleventh edition. Before that, the first live Design KANTÝNA (Design Cantine) of this year took place – a short and informal discussion with the festival’s main manager Ondřej Staněk and Karolína Kostková from Refresher CZ, one of this year’s main media partners. Together, they introduced the festival’s theme, gave a behind-the-scenes look at preparations, reflected on the current cultural scene in the Czech Republic, and tuned the audience for the upcoming festival week.
The opening itself was held in the spirit of this year’s theme – dialogue – not only through words and visuals but also through music, with DJ Rainer providing the soundtrack. The DIALOG (Dialogue) exhibition remains open free of charge until May 13 and offers a view of design as a tool for communication, understanding, and social connection.
