The prestigious international competition Best in Design 2025<\/em> has announced its overall winner. The jury selected from over 540 submitted projects across four categories: Product & Industrial, Communication, Fashion, and Service Design. The overall winner across all categories is Dalibor Itze with his project Slovak Railways Redesign<\/em>. While the grand prize goes to Slovakia, Poland took home the most awards\u2014Agnieszka Bujas won in the Product & Industrial category, received the Media Award, and the Special Award from the Martina and Martin R\u016f\u017ei\u010dka Foundation. The award ceremony took place on May 10 at the Congress Centre in Zl\u00edn, an iconic building designed by world-renowned architect Eva Ji\u0159i\u010dn\u00e1.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Best in Design ceremony remains a highlight of the Zlin Design Week<\/em>, a week-long festival. This year\u2019s theme, „dialogue,“ was reflected in dynamic, interactive light projections that involved the audience, enhancing the festive and creative atmosphere. The evening included a dance performance and was hosted by Tom\u00e1\u0161 Kozelsk\u00fd from studio KOGAA, who returned to the role for the second time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall Winner of Best in Design 2025<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

„The current design of \u017delezni\u010dn\u00e1 spolo\u010dnos\u0165 Slovensko is fragmented and confusing for passengers. My motivation was to unify it with minimal changes and resolve all navigation issues,“<\/em> said Slovak student Dalibor Itze from Tomas Bata University in Zl\u00edn, about his winning project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He received the top prize for his work on redesigning Slovakia\u2019s national railway system. The project, which began as his bachelor thesis, aims to strengthen the identity of Slovak Railways, improve passenger navigation, and enhance accessibility for people with disabilities. As the new Best in Design 2025 titleholder, Dalibor was awarded media support and a total prize of \u20ac1,500 (\u20ac1,000 for the Best in Design title and \u20ac500 for winning the Communication Design category).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • 2nd place:<\/strong> Agnieszka Bujas<\/em> \u2013 Home Care for the Newborn and Mother During the Postpartum Period<\/em>: A mobile midwifery station inspired by her mother\u2019s profession. The product includes a special bag with a portable baby scale and a mobile app for health tracking.

          First introduced in 2022, the Media Award<\/strong> is selected by editors of top design magazines. This year\u2019s jury: V\u00e1clav Bed\u0159ich (CzechCrunch), Eva Slune\u010dkov\u00e1 (Elle Decoration), and Veronika Pa\u0159\u00edzkov\u00e1 (DesignNews). Both the Media Award and the Martina and Martin R\u016f\u017ei\u010dka Foundation Special Prize<\/strong> were awarded to Agnieszka Bujas<\/em> for her mobile midwifery station project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          This new and final award was granted to Ina Dubava<\/em> for her Digital Garden of Endangered Plant Species<\/em>. Recognized for the powerful connection between digital art and endangered flora, she receives media support, a feature article, an Instagram carousel, a Refresher+ subscription, and an art piece from Klimchi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
