Additionally, there will be the Design Dazzle event, an afternoon full of inspiring unconventional talks, not only about design, and a new feature this year: short films about design, architecture, and culture.
design dazzle, powered by pecha kucha
We are excited that this year, the Zlin Design Week will feature a Pecha Kucha certified presentation format. It promises to be a unique afternoon where creatives, designers, architects, artists, and others from the creative and cultural industries will present their work and describe their thoughts. We will have 11 speakers from the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Pecha Kucha creates space for architects, designers, graphic artists, visual artists, theorists, theater practitioners, filmmakers, and musicians to meet in one place at one time. The format was developed from the experience of architectural lectures, which often lasted for hours. The format is simple: each speaker has 20 slides, and each slide is discussed for 20 seconds. The total presentation time is only 6 minutes and 40 seconds.

Initially, a short journey to Rishikesh for yoga became a half-year adventure for Jana and Michal, during which they discovered a treasure – old hand-woven fabrics with the story of three generations. They were so enchanted by silk sarees and embroidered Kanthys that they decided to transform them into unique fashion pieces that connect the past with the present.

Airbō
Airbō gives new life to airbags from old cars! They design and create bags, backpacks, and accessories from highly durable materials that would otherwise end up in incinerators. Airbags are complemented with upcycled fabric, yacht ropes, and other materials sourced from companies that have no further use for them. Their bags are extremely durable, lightweight, and adaptable to your everyday needs. Each piece is unique, carefully crafted in a workshop in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on sustainability and functionality. Airbō is about innovation, responsibility, and the joy of creation!
