Become the face of an unconventional Fashion Show – Zlin Design Week launches Open Call for models

4. 2. 2025 | Michaela Kottová

An unforgettable Fashion Show, a fusion of designers from around the world and a passion for creativity and originality – Zlin Design Week 2025 is searching for models to take part in its unique showcase. Applications are open from 4 February to 3 March 2025.

The 11th edition of Zlin Design Week (ZDW), organised by the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at Tomas Bata University, will take place from 7 to 13 May 2025. This year, it promises not only inspiring workshops, exhibitions, and discussions but also an extraordinary Fashion Show led by the creative management duo Iva Stoličková and Jiří Zapalač. The show, scheduled for Friday, 9 May, offers a unique experience—original designs by international designers, unexpected approaches to fashion and an atmosphere that pushes the boundaries of a traditional runway show.

“The 2025 Fashion Show will present a completely new perspective on what a fashion show can be. We want to bring models, designers and the audience into the heart of the event,” says Iva Stoličková. “It’s time to break away from conventional fashion shows and explore a fresh, imaginative concept. Although I can’t reveal too much just yet, this project is a huge challenge for us—and that’s exactly what Zlin Design Week is all about.”

Who Can Apply?

“Our show is open to everyone—regardless of age, body shape, or previous experience,” says Jiří Zapalač. “We’re looking for diverse faces and personalities who want to be part of something extraordinary, showcase their individuality, and support our vision of connecting fashion with the real world in a truly unconventional way.”

How to Become Part of the Fashion Show?

Applicants can submit their applications between 4 February and 3 March 2025 via an online form on the Zlin Design Week website.

This year’s Fashion Show will feature collections from designers such as Anežka Matějů Mrzílková, Nishchaia Anastasiia, design duo Roniqveja, and Barbara Rakovská, who will present her unique collection, Amber Grain. This collection merges nature, tradition, and biodesign into a fascinating vision of sustainable fashion. Growing lace from cereal roots, bio-materials, and traditional techniques are combined with inspiration from Czech and Slovak folk costumes. The bio-folklore garments, crafted from wheat and barley roots, raw wool, dried grass, and pressed seeds, symbolise the significance of grain as both sustenance and wealth. Amber Grain pushes the boundaries of fashion and sparks discussions about the future of sustainable clothing, making it one of the most anticipated projects of this year’s show.
