Tomáš Rousek

Terrestrial and space architect

Tomas Rousek is terrestrial and space architect. He founded company XTEND DESIGN in London and Prague that connects architects and designers to help with some of the current grand challenges of mankind. Tom’s research involves architecture and infrastructure, robotic construction, 3D printing, VR and product design. He collaborated on missions to Moon, Mars and asteroids at NASA centers JPL, Ames and JSC. He collaborated on projects of ESA, German space agency DLR and European Union. He invented SinterHab, first concept of a 3D-printed lunar module based on NASA technology. Tom has designed Solstar WAP product selected by NASA for new HALO module of Gateway lunar station. At ThinkOrbital he develops of new generation of large space modules robotically assembled and welded in orbit. His visions of Moon Villages were published all around the planet and now he works with several NewSpace companies on developing systems for lunar settlements.

Tom participated with AECOM London on architecture for Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, FIFA championship in Qatar and Formula 1 in Abu Dhabi. Collaboration with AECOM involved design of futuristic suspended visitor center for World Cup, and many infrastructure projects in Doha. He worked on projects for 2 royal families, he was advisor in project of new futuristic city quarter in Dubai and space theme resort in Bali. XTEND recently unveiled architecture for concept of new modular nuclear powerplant CR-100. Tomas has worked with clients such as Vodafone, Skoda Auto, Hornbach, SKANSKA and Mercedes-Benz. His designs were presented at 20 exhibitions in Europe and America and he won several awards (e.g. NASA Group Achievement Award).
